(7th October 2016 – Doha, Qatar) With just two days left to go, the world’s best and most celebrated cyclists are descending on Doha for one of the major highlights of the cycling season - the UCI Road World Championships Doha 2016.

Qatar is set to be on centre stage for the sports world, with more than 500 million viewers expected to watch the Championships. This event further showcases Qatar by becoming the first country in the Arabian Gulf to host the UCI Road World Championships.

With the prestigious sporting event from 9-16th October, tomorrow morning sees the Time Trial Training, running from 10:00am to 1:00pm. With the starting point at Lusail Shooting Complex, cyclists will participate in the time trials towards the finish line at The Pearl-Qatar.

The Time Trial Training event sees temporary road closures across Viva Bahriya, Porto Arabia and Medina Centrale, with roads closing at 9:00am and re-opening at 1:30pm.

With traffic closures being implemented at The Pearl-Qatar, alternative transportations facilities are being provided to residents of the island, including water shuttles and shuttle buses.

With water shuttle services running 8:00am – 3:30pm, departing every 20 minutes, residents shall have the option of travelling from Porto Arabia and Viva Bahriya to Katara Cultural Village and vice-versa.

Shuttle bus services, running 8:00am – 3:30pm, depart every 10 minutes from Medina Centrale to Katara Cultural Village/Doha Exhibition Center (DEC) and vice-versa.

Both services are free of charge. Residents and visitors will also have the option of being transported within The Pearl-Qatar on golf carts.

Saturday, 8th October, will be highlighted with the opening ceremony and time trials. A complete list of events and race-related transportation & closures follows :
